Face Mask Use Requirements at Maranatha

General Requirements for face masks:
All Maranatha employees, volunteers, and guests on-site are required to have a face mask with them at all times and required to wear it as described below.

Before leaving home check the following:
  • Do I feel sick or have I been in close contact with someone who is sick?  If so, stay home.
  • Do I have my face mask? If not, get one…

Arriving at Maranatha:
When you arrive at the Maranatha parking lot (via car, motorcycle, bicycle, or as a pedestrian), you will need to put your mask on if you haven’t already.

Will face masks be provided?
You are encouraged to provide your own face covering.  If you do not have a face mask, one may be provided to you upon arrival by a door attendant, usher, or greeter (do not enter premises until given a face mask).

All masks must comply with the following requirements:
Construction/fitting:
  • Must be at least 2 layers of protection
  • Exhalation valves are not permitted
  • Made of a tightly woven material
  • Securely covers the nose and mouth
  • Attaches to the head, neck or ears (held to the face hands free)

What are acceptable and unacceptable masks?
Acceptable Masks:
  • Face masks that meet the construction and fitting requirements above, including neck gaiters
  • Surgical/medical/non-medical disposable masks
  • Any respirator rated N95/KN95 or N100 (without an exhalation valve)
  • Face shield (with mask accompanied)

Unacceptable masks include:
  • Bandannas
  • Towels
  • Handkerchiefs
  • Face shields (without mask)
  • Other similar items
  • Any other mask that does not comply with the requirements listed above

When and where are face masks required to be worn?
  • Visitors: All the time while on Maranatha property
  • Staff: When you cannot ensure a distance of at least six (6) feet from others, such as:
    • When working in or walking through common areas, such as hallways, stairways, elevators, parking facilities, kitchens, break rooms, conference rooms,
    • When in any room or enclosed area where other people are present,
    • When driving or operating any Maranatha or public use vehicle when passengers are present. (When no passengers are present, face coverings are strongly recommended.)
    • When transitioning between buildings

When are face masks NOT required to be worn?
  • Staff Only: When eating or drinking and in office alone

Potential Exceptions:

If you think one of these exceptions below may apply to you, you will need authorization from Maranatha leadership. Please contact Maranatha leadership as soon as possible to discuss any exceptions that may apply to you. All exceptions must be documented in a “Return to On-site Work/Volunteer/Visitor Plan” although we note that specific medical information will be kept confidential on a need-to-know basis.  Exceptions may include:

  • A medical authorization regarding a personal health condition that may affect your ability to safely use a face mask,
  • Engaging in high intensity physical activities.

How many times can a mask be reused?
  • Reusable masks (Cloth)
May be reused until the fabric/straps has lost their integrity (Worn/thin fabric, holes/tears/other physical damage, straps broken or no longer elastic, mask no longer tightly fitting).  Should be routinely washed depending on the frequency of use.
  • Disposable masks
May be used for 8-12 hours per use.  May be reused as often as 4-5 times.  Should be stored in a clean/secure location (e.g., paper bag) to air out for at least 3 days between uses.  Should be replaced at any time the integrity is compromised (e.g., bent out of shape, torn, or visibly dirty).

What if I have an objection to wearing a mask?
Schedule an appointment to talk with Maranatha leadership at 408-280-PRAY.

What are the consequences if I don’t wear a mask when I am required to do so?
You may be denied access to Maranatha premises.

What should I do if I see someone who appears to be sick or without a face mask on-site?
